CATTLE FAIR The cattle fair held under the auspices of the Poverty Pay Stockbrokers' Asso': elation at Hie' Mntawhero sale yards today met with a. good degree of success. The sale opened with a yarding of 1300 store cattle, which were uniformly good in condition. Bidding was spirited, and a brisk sale resulted. The entry in eluded most of the big lines, and bullocks made up to £l2 15s and £l2 2s. Two-year steers went lo £7 14s, while three-year steers brought £lO. Sturdy yearling steers made £6 16s and £6 IBs. Cows with calves realised up lo £8 18s. Other prices of store rattle were: lb steers, two-year-old, Hereford and Shorthorn, good store condition, 1-7 lis: 27 Holstein Yearling steers, well grown (p). £4 12s 6d; 44 3-vr steers, mostly Hereford (id, £7 7s 6d : 22 cows and heifers, Polled Angus, in good order, £6 16s; 26 cows with" 13 calves, £7 4s: 13 good Hereford steers, 20 months old, £7: 33 big 4-vr Hereford bullocks, in. good order, £l2 15s; 54 grown Polled Angus bullocks, £ll Is; 42 4-yr bullocks, Polled Angus-Hereford cross, £l2 2s; 40 3-yr steers, Polled Angus, £lO ; 53 three and 4-vr Hereford bullocks, £lO 12s 6d : 61 heifers, r.w.b., 3-yr old, £6 15s; 68 Hereford 3-vr steers.'all dehorned, fresh condition, £lO Is: 63 Hereford heifers, well-grown, 2-yr old, £7 ss; 60 Polled Angus cows, r.w.b., young, £9 4s; 59 do., £9 4s; 40 grown bullocks, forward, £l2 ss; 33 cows, r.w.b., with 24 calves, in good order, mostly young, £8 18s; 80 cows, in good store condition, £7 9s; 75 cows and 75 calves, r.w.b., Hereford, in fair condition (p), £8 ss; 40 yearling Hereford steers, a' lusty lot, £6 16s; 45 Polled Angus and Hereford steers £6 18s; 37 Hereford yearling steers, fair eiondilion, £5 19s; 16 good Polled AngusHereford, cross cows, r.w.b., £8 19s: «.'>s Shorthorn cows, all Polled, empty, good store condition. £6 15s. Fat cattle : The entry of fat cattle totalled 102. With the exception of a few head, the quality was only average. There was keen competition and good prices, and almost a total clearance was made under the hammer. Bullocks made to £ls ss. cows to £ll ss, and ordinary cows from £7 to £B. TE KARAKA SALE There was only a very small yarding, comprising about 300 sheep and a few dairy cattle, at, the To Karaka stock sale" yesterday. Buyers also were few, and ihe juices realised were no indication as to the, general state of the stock market, which" appears lo be fairly sound at present
The Scottish and Australian Investment Co. declared it- dividend for the year of 10 per cent., with a bonus of 7J, per cent., states a London cable message.
