ENGLAND V. WEST INDIES VISITORS’ INNINGS DEFEAT (Australian Press Assn.—United Sendee.) (Received Julv 25, 11 a.m.) LONDON, July 24. Play in the second' test between England and West Indies was dull and slow on an easy wicket. West Indies in the second innings made 115—S. T. Hill 38; Freeman taking five for 39 and White three for 41. England won by an innings and 30 runs. The Daily News’ cricket correspondent, describes the finish of the test as the tamest for many years. He says West Indies has much to learn before it can justify its new rank. With six wickets in hand and requiring 74 to necessitate a second English innings, they petered out unimpressively. Constantine was twice dropped. Freeman’s figures to-dav were nine overs. 14 runs, three wickets, and his match figures ten for 93. He has taken 192 wickets for the season. ENGLISH N.Z. TOUR QPPOSED (Per Press Association.' DUNEDIN, this day. The Otago Cricket Association passed a resolution against bringing out an English team in 1929-30.
