IMPORTED RABBITS
FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE > DANGER (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. In the decision of the Government to allow the importation of Angora and Chinchilla rabbits into New Zealand, an Auckland resident sees a possible danger from foot and mouth disease. Forty years ago in Scotland, he said, he had to have some pet rabbits destroyed because they bad contracted the » disease. “If this country has to be on a constant guard against one tiling, it is the introduction of this disease,” lie said. “ Three years ago Che Government- prohibited the importation of onions from the United States owing to the danger of the microbe of tire disease being brought into the country,: and we cannot he too careful in our efforts to keep New Zealand free from this disease.”
