P.B. UNION MEETS Confirmation of arrangements for represent a I ixe fixfurevs scheduled for earlv dates again occupied the attention' of the Poverty Day Rugby Union management committee last evening. Mr. A. S. Darker presided over the meeting. The secretary, Mr. W. S. McKee, reported that, the Barry Cup challenge game at Wairoa on (Saturday had been definitely arranged tor, and the transport of the Poverty Bay senior team fixed with one of the motor services. There appeared to be every prospect of getting a iirst-elass team away, and the Wairoa people were looking forward with keen interest to the game. A letter received from the East Coast Rugby Union conveyed the thanks of: the East Coast players for the hospitality shown to them on their recent visit to Gisborne for the Coronation Cup game. The East Coast Union confirmed (he submitted date, August 11, as suitable for the Poverty Day team's visit to the coast for the return match.
It was reported that the Tolaga Day and Waikohu junior teams had been invited to visit Gisborne for return matches with the Poverty Day A and D third-grade representatives respectively on Saturday, the invitations
having been accepted. Some'discussion took place upon the question of the most suitable arrangement of the fixtures, it being pointed out that the junior competition was now at a critical stage, with Old Boys and High School out in the lead, and the result of the competition practically resting on the outcome of their meeting on Saturday. It was decided to give this game pride of place .and time on the grandstand ground, and to stage tho Tolaga Day v. Poverty Day thirds game as a curtain-raiser. Fifth grade competition games were suspended, in view of tho fact that the primary school representatives will visit Wairoa on Saturday. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY
Fixtures for Saturday next are as mder:—
Seniors: Representative team at Wairoa; competition games suspended. Juniors: High Sehool v. Old Boys, on No. 1 ground, at 2.45 p.m.; Celtic v. H.5.0.D., on No. 2 ground, at 2.-15 p.m.
Thirds: A representatives v. Tolaga Day juniors, No. 1 ground, at 1.15 p.m.; D representatives v. Waikohu juniors, No. 3 ground, at 1.15 p.m. Fourths: High School A v. High School C, on No. 2 ground, at 1.15 p.m.; High School B v. Old Boys, on No. 3 ground, at 2.45 p.m. POVERTY BAY THIRDS For special training, in view of the games with Tolaga Bay and Waikohu juniors on Saturday at the Oval, the third grade selector, Mr. A. H, Airey, has nominated the following players:— Hoasiey, Babbington, Crawford, Shanks, Ria, Dandy, Morrison, Kaua, Duneomhe (2), Barrett, Roche, Allen, Ancell, Whiteley, Clarkson, McPhail, Haisman, Charles, Judd, McMinn, Hume, Campbell, Hamilton, Knox, Newton* Pattison, McLaughlin, •Phillips, Leach, Morrow, Harris, Westmoreland, Pasley, Allen, Kearns, Coleman, Newman, Soderston, Brady, Hartshorn, Thodey, Fro-ser, Jenkins, and Edwards. All players named above will assemble at Messrs. Common, Shelton and Co.'s wool store to-morrow evening.
