BANK OF "ENGLAND
INDUSTRIALISTS WANT INQUIRY LONDON, May 28. Leading British industrialists are seeking to initiate an inquiry into the activities and policy of the Bank of England, it demand which Labor voiced in the House of Commons recently. Sir Auckland Geddes and Lord Denbigh have .written to the Premier, Mr. Baldwin, saying that the present n onetary system is the root and basic cause of all Britain's financial troubles, and they want some standard measure of values that would be more effective than the existing gold basis. Should Mr. Baldwin grant such an inquiry, Labor would immediately demand an investigation as to the extent to which the Bank of England and other banks affect industry. The Premier recently declared that the banks might have to make sacrifices and there is little doubt that the whole banking situation will be reviewed shortly. It is certain that if Labor gets into power in the next election that a searching inquiry will be 1 instituted.
