BOXING
LECKIE DEFEATS RADFORD (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, last night, In the Drill Hall last night, before an attendance of nearly 4000 people, Johnny Leckie, 8.12 g, was' given the decision, over Norman Radford, 8.125, at the end of a 15-round bout. The decision was given a mixed reception. It was certainly one of the hardest and closest contests that Leckie has had since he entered the professional ranks, but the balance tipped in his favor in the last round, in which he came with a great burst and scored heavily. Leckie was the more clever of the two at long range, but the English boy scored well at infighting. The best blow of the night was landed by Radford in the twelfth round, when-he connected with a beautiful uppercut with the right which sent Leckie's head back and put him off his balance. Radford followed up tho advantage and was scoring well on the ropes when tho bell wont. It was not altogether what might 'be termed a spectacular fight, and the referee was over-indulgent in the matter of holding. ' .
