TWO GIRLS DROWNED
- MEN MAROONED 15 HOURS WASHINGTON (D.C.), July '•>• Catherine Carr and Margaret Anderson, writers on the National Geographic magazine, were canoeing on the Potomac river, when they were carried over Little Falls, and drowned. The bodies of both girls were caught upon jagged rocks. Two of their friends, Herbert Lugenbcel and James Angel, attempted to dislodge the bodies. They, too, were upset, but were able to crawl to separate rock pinnacles. There they huddled all night. Next morning thousands watched a thrilling rescue by naval detachments. The men were badly bruised and exhausted after being marooned for 15 hours. The sailors also recovered the girls' bodies. ____
