EXCITING INCIDENT
TIRE NEAR MUNITION PITS (Per Press Association.). AUCKLAND, this day. Only 100 yards from' the pits where shells and ammunition to the value of over £250,000 are stored, a grass fire broko out at 5 o'clock on Sunday evening outside the high wall which encircles the military camp at Narrow Neck. It was quickly suppressed. The explosives are stored in pits underground, and it 'would take immense heat to cause an explosion. Nevertheless the incident caused a scare.
