FIRE IN OPOTIKI
IN MERCANTILE'S PREMISES (Per Press Association.} OPOTIKI, this day. A disastrous fire occurred at 3 o'clock this morning, when tho store and of ice of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile. Agency Co. was totally destroyed. The firm was carrying a particularly large stock. The brigade did good work and saved, the benzine shed and the adjoining building, the. Masonic Hall, which was only three feet away. Luckily n strong wind was blowing in the opposite, direction. The building and contents were insured, but the company is a heavy loser. The stock of oil in the building is still burning, but the fire is confined and if is not expected that much mom damage will be done.
