OBSTRUCTING THE POLICE
OFFENDERS SENT TO GAOL (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. While Constable IToncybono wag takink James Walsh, 41, to Mt. Cook police station on Saturday evening on a charge of obscene language, a crowd gathered and the constable was obstructed by several men. Walsh also resisted violently. He was to-day fined £2 for using obscene language, convicted and ordered to make good damage to the policeman's tunic, £3 15s, and, on a charge of resisting, sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Lawrence Pottorson, 24, and Robert Burgess, 49, each got one month's gaol for obstructing the constable.
