The first tennis test match between Australia and South Africa has commenced. Mrs. McArthur beat Miss Bickcrton, (i —4, 8—0; Miss Akhurst beat Miss Heine, G —2, (3—4; Miss Akhurst and-Mrs O'Hara beat Mrs. Neave and Mrs. McArthur, I—(i, 6 —l", 6—3; Misses Peacock and Heine beat Misses Bovd and Bickcrton, C—4, 3—G, G—l." At Port Elizabeth Landry beat Richardson, G—2, B—G;8 —G; Brugnon and Boussus beat Eagleston and Davies, G—3, 4—G, .14—12; Landry and Boussus met Richardson and Davies, the score being B—G, 4—G, 3—3, when play jwas postponed until to-morrow.
TENNIS AT TE ARAROA The annual Easier tournament at Te Araroa was held in perfect weather. The courts were in good order, and several close games were witnessed. The entries were large, and on this account the playing of some of the finals was postponed. 'Plie following, championships have been decided :— • Ladies' championship singles: Mrs. King Reed. .Men's championship singles : Cameron. Combined championship : Mrs. King Reed and Cameron Men's championship doubles: Cameron and Stanton. Ladies' championship doubles: Mrs. McCownn, and Miss Newton. Ladies' handicap singles: Miss. Rachel Williams. The prizes wevp presented at a. wellattended dance. The rose bowl was presented to Mrs. K. Reed.
