POVERTY BAY CLUB The second race in the semi-finals for the Poverty Bay Rowing Club’s president’s fours was held last evening. The crews were: T. Hill (str.), N. J. McConnell, A. Roache, and F. Ardern, and E., Fitzmaurice (str.), W. McLauchlan, A. Lucas, and H. Twigley. In th o first start Fitzmaurice’s oar caught in the swivel, and Hill stopped. This .also occurred when attempting the second start-, but the third start saw both crews move off together, with Hill leading, after a short distance. Fitzmaurice experienced trouble when passing under Roebuck road bridge, and Hill increased his lead to two lengths. With 400 yards to go, Fitzmaurice sprinted, reducing the gap considerably, but lie was unable to catch Hill, who went on to win with three-quarters of a length to spare. The following crews will race on Saturday, the winner to row E. Patty in the final: T. Hill (str.), E. W. Forrest, A. Roache, and F. Ardern, and H. Lm-st-rom (str.), J. Hibbert, I\. Harris, and L. Brown.
