NO VISIT BY AUSTRALIANS ASSOCIATIONS OPPOSED (Pec Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The council of the New Zealand Football Association met to-night. The following is a summary of replies received from various associations in respect of the proposed Australian tour: Wellington Association offered £4OO for a test and provincial games,, otherwise they did not agree to a tour. The Otago Association approved the tour and would give the necessary guarantee, but desired more information regarding tho rate of profits, which should be pro rata to 'guarantees; it also suggested that North Island players should not play in tho South Island test match and vice versa regarding tho Auckland •match, both islands to be drawn on for the test match in Wellington. Auckland Association supports the tour provided a game was played in Auckland at the opening of the tour and that the final test be played at Auckland. South Auckland was against the tour on the ground mainly of the doubtful strength of the visitors. Westland offered to guarantee £7O and asked for a match against Australia. North Auckland had referred tho matter to a general meeting on April 12, Southland replied that, owing to indefinite information, ■they would be unable to accept a match Otago and Southland v. Australia at Invercargill. Canterbury offered to guarantee £l5O for a Saturday match, but only £SO for a Wednesday match in Christchurch. Taranaki replied that the matter would be decided at a meeting, but the opinion was expressed that the guarantee would be forthcoming. South Canterbury decided that the tour be not entertained. A letter was received from the chairman of the Australian Football Association to the effect that tho team which it was proposed to .send to New Zealand would be superior to the side which visited New Zealand in 1922. Now South Wales and Queensland would possibly havo 10 representatives and seven would probably be chosen from other States. The chairman: “It amounts to this —that only two associations are in favor of the 1 tour, Westland and Otago. ” “It -was finally decided to cable the Association regretting very much that tho tour could not take place owing to the attitude of the associations. In regard to tho Football Association trophy, it was decided to appoint a delegate from each major association to meet prior to the annual meeting and submit a report and recommend to the annual meeting the matter of an offer of a visit from a South African team for next season to bo considered at the annual meeting. Tho New Zealand Council is to send best wishes for the success of the All Black team in South Africa. i
