CHINESE PORTIA
TO REPRESENT NANKING LOIN DON, April 4. Vivacious, pretty, bobbed, and, shortskirted, with a magical smile and a reputed ability to over-match less agileminded male diplomats of the old world, Miss Soume' Tcheng has arrived at Marseilles on a mission to the European Governments on behalf of the Nanking Nationalists, says the Paris correspondent of the Daily News. After taking her doctor’s degree at the Sorbonne in 1926, Miss Tchcng acted as chief of police for the Nanking Government, inspiring terror amongst rogues and Chinese “‘Reds.” It is reported that she will submit to the British Foreign Secretary (Sir Austen Chamberlain) proposals for the settlement of the Nanking outrages, and will also try to secure the recognition of Nanking as the only responsible Government in China.
