40 PER CENT. IDLE INDUSTRIAL DEPRESSION (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 22, 11 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Feb. 21. Mr. Edgar Wallace, Legislative representative of the American Federation of Labor, told - the House Agricultural Committee that (ho present unemployment conditions were comparable with those of 1920, when there was a general depression in the United Stales. Mr. Wallace stated that 40 per cent, of the potential labor power of the country was now idle, whereas 20 per cent, normally was idle. Ho said general conditions were far worse at present than in 1927.
