PREPARATIONS FOR TRIAL ACCUSED’S SUICIDE ATTEMPTS (Australian and N.Z. Cable association.! LOS ANGELES, Dec. 27. A gaoler discovered Hickman attempting to hide a spoon in his clothing during his evening meal. It is believed lie intended to use the spoon to attempt suicide. He was warned lie would he put in irons if he continued his efforts.
A medical examiner reported that Marion Parker died of heart failure, not of strangulation.
Hickman will bo defended by a 25-year-old Kansas City attorney, chosen by the accused man’s mother, who has given up hope of his escape from punishment.* The case will precede all others on the file, and is expected to be concluded speedily.
