Tiie. fast 43,500-ion liner, lie de Fiance, is being equipped with a fiveton seaplane for carrying 15 passengers, or alternatively two tons of mail, according to an announcement made by the president of the Academy of Maritime Affairs.
He adds that shipbuilding has so progressed that it is impossible to produce faster or more economical liners, ns ships cannot be speeded up. The only way in which the Atlantic dossing can be reduced to four days is to use_ seaplanes, whereby lie hopes to save 15 hours at each end.
