Church Advertising
"1 am firmly convinced that the Uhurches could'"use their, usual Saturday advertisements, all of which deal with the services m the individual churches, to far greater advantage/' said Mr Frank Thompson, district secretary for Methodist Oiurch Property, addressing members of the Methodist Synod at the Sydenham Church, Christchurch.
"There is no interest to the ordinary man m the street in the fact that a certain choir will slug such and such an anthem. Certainly tho little advertisements hold interest for some, but that some is not many. In any case tho numher of people who read the advertisements is small.
"I advocate that the (Jhurches pool their advertising money, and insert a. type of advertising which would prove far more popular. iTho type of advertisement which 1 think 'would be appreciated is a decent, sized 'wayside pulpit' advertisement. They would he read by hundreds, and furthermore would be appreciated to their fullest extent. Tho small advertiesments few read; tho 'big and interesting advertisements many would read."
