The death of Dr. David Hogarth, keeper of Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and president of the Hellenic Society, removes a figure well known for. extensive exploration in Asia Minor and excavations in Greece and Egypt. During the war he was for a time director of the Arab Bureau, and -had a thorough inside knowledge of the Arab revolt against Turkish dominance, which had a great effect on the hostilities in the Middle East.
