JURY-TAMPERING
SENSATION GROWING GOVERNMENT INVOLVED (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received November 8, noon.) WASHINGTON, November 7. William Burns, head of the wellknown detective agency, was called before the Grand Jury to explain the activities of his agents in shadowing the oil trial jurors. He made sensational charges that " only the Government has attempted to tamper with the jury."
Burns declared that his men filed with Mr. Justice Siddoas an affidavit and complaint asserting that a Government officer, in a Government automobile, visited tho local flying field and approached one" of tho jurors. Burns amplified his statement in an interview following his appearance before the Grand Jury, but when asked which juror was approached, and by whom, replied shortly: "Find that out from the judge."
