The rapid strides made during the past year in the British film-producing industry have led to the establishment of several now studios and the enlargement of existing ones. Lord Asquith, at a meeting of the British Empire Film Institute yesterday, said the exceptional activity in British film studios was a most gratifying sign, A hopeful factor was that the demand tor British films had come*, from audiences, and that was likely to induce a more definite sense of continuity and permanence. Meanwhile there is great building activity throughout the country on new cinemas, and it is estimated that £lO,000,000 will be spent on such enterprises during the next 12 months.
