A host of officials, newspapermen, photographers, and two doctors were waiting to accompany her. It is likely to he one of the most crowded and spectacular Channel swims. Another outcome of Dr. Logan’s hoax is that supporters of Mrs. Gill, who swam the Channel on October 14, have, issued an open challenge to all longr distance .swimmers of either sex for a. Channel race, the winner to he the first to land in the event of the full distance being covered 1 , or. if this is impossible, the one who swims nearest to England.
