FOUNDERED SHIP MYSTERY
VESSEL THAT BANK IN A CALM SEA CALCUTTA, Aug. 25. The sinking of the British cargo ship tvhahzada lias provided another mystery of the Bay of Bengal. 'The marine court, of inquiry has found that the cause of the foundering was that water found its way into the interior of the vessel, though it is not known what, caused the water to enter.
The opinion was expressed that the Joss was not due to default oi any ol the officers, and that everything possible was done in the short time available before the ship foundered'. All the members of the crew who came to the surlaee were rescued, and t hose who were drowned died doing their dutv.
The Klializada left the Sandheads last July hound for Akyab, when, suddenly and without- warning, she began to sink, though the sea was calm. There were 51 survivors, hut seven Europeans ami 14 Indians were drowned.
