THE NEXT WAR
WHOLE WORLD INVOLVED MARSHAL FOCH'S OPINION (Eloc. Tel. Copyright— United Press Assn.'* (Sydney Sun Cables.) (Received' July 11, 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 10. "The next war, to be fought within 15 and 20 years, will be a world war, every country participating. The combatants will include not only manhood, but younger women will play an even more active part than battalions of English women did in hospitals and transport work in the Great War, says Marshal Foch, in an interview with the Weekly Despatch. "The nations in arms will also include every available man, woman, and child, each being allotted a task." Although the fighting on land, sea and in air will resemble the western front in 191'8, with new and more powerful weapons, and more harrowing features. Marshal Foch does not believe that there will be more casualties because science, will devise fresh defensive, measures, as it has already limited the destructiveness of air attacks by concealment.
"Wars will never cease entirely," he added. "The only safeguard of peace that I know is the Entente Conliale."
