ALLEGATIONS OF PREJUDICE Several remarkable incidents went to make up a most perplexing situation at last evening’s meeting of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union. to the first place, the chairman, Mr. A. F. Parker, stated that after the Celtic Did Boys senior match at the Oval on Saturday the referee, so the chairman had been informed, told a player to at lend the union meet ing last night tiff allegedly “boohing" lum (the referee), hut there was no report to hand from llie referee.

A member then went outside, and on returning stated that the player in question was there with his witnesses, but there was no sign of the referee. Mr. Brosnahan : lie wins by default. The chairman : Yvo do not know what lie is charged with. Mr. (!. Dansey said the man was charged with hooting the referee, but the player had witnesses, to prove that lie did not.
The player and his witnesses were informed that their presence was not required. It was then stated Hunt mere was certain correspondence from the secret-ary ol the Old Boys’ Club bearing on the matter, and this made allegations of prejudice against a referee, who was alleged to have made (lire,-its regarding a player. Mr. Burge moved and Mr. Biosnahan seconded thill the letters lie referred to I lie Referees’ Association.
The motion was carried without com ment.
