NAVAL CONFERENCE AMERICAN'S OPINION (British Official Wireless.) Rec. noon. LONDON, June 23.; Following a conversation with the Fir 4, Lord'of the Admiralty, Mr. W. C. Bridgeman, the chief British delegate to the Naval Disarmament Conference at Geneva to-day, the leader of the United States delegation, Mr. Gibson, told the press that distinct progress was. being made, and they were approaching nearer to agreement on major points. He was now an optimist regarding the results. The Americans, he added, had asked for a statement regarding the effect of the, British proposals as to capital ships, and Mr. Bridgeman had promised it for this evening.
