AN IRATE CREDITOR
PURSUIT OIF BANKRUPT INTERLUDE AT MEETING Proceedings took a dramatic turn during a meeting of creditors in tho bankrupt estate of Edward Charles Tapp, formerly a carrier, but now a, contractor, oi Palmerstou North, |afc Hawera, when a creditor divested himself of his coat and chased the bankrupt, round the deputy-official assignee's table. Bankrupt's official statement revealed a. deficiency to unsecured creditors oi £BO 10s sd. He. stated he was first ill partnership with another carrier, 0. Roberts, from whom he leased a truck. Later he bought another truck, for which lie stated, Ins wife paid. Bankrupt was being closely examined by counsel regarding tho subsequent exchange of this trUck for a ear, when Mr. Roberts asserted that bankrupt's earnings averaged i!9 a week, and warned him not to "get up to any trickery." Bankrupt stoutly denied Mr. Roberts' assertions, whereupon tho latter hastily divested himself of his coat and sought to get to grips with, bankrupt, who dodged round the table, and hastily shielded himself behind the deputy-otii-cial assignee. It was some seconds before the assignee brought home to tho aggrieved creditor the fact that, such tactics could not be permitted, and pacified him so that, he retired crestfallen, much to the relief of the bankrupt. A few minutes later Mr. Roberts tendered an apology to tiie deputy-official assignee for forgetting himself. Bankrupt was finally given a. week iu which to make a satisfactory offer to the creditors and hand over the car, otherwise the deputy-official assignee was empowered to take steps to have, a public examination.
