NEVER- MADF- A PENNY ON FLEET STREET. LONDON, March 13. Lord Beaverbrook, who has become a powerful figure in the British newspaper world, was entertained by the Manchester Publicity Club. The celebration marked the inauguration of the northern edition of Lord Beaverbrook’s London Daily Express, printed simultaneously in London and Manchester. Lord Beaverbrook said he regretted that he was not establishing a really new newspaper, for such was greatly needed in England. In the Daily Express, Lord Beaverbrook writes that “if I consulted jmy own inclinations I would retire from journalism to-morrow and live in ease ■ and comfort on the fortune built up in Canada before I set foot on Fleet Street. Fleet Street has never recompensed mo a -penny for the efforts .1 have made there.”
