AUCKLAND’S CIVIC SPIRIT
HANDSOME GIFTS FOR DOMAIN A gift of sums totalling £9500 has been made to the Auckland city by a number of prominent business men for extending the winter garden and making other improvements to the domain. The list is headed by Mr. William Elliot with £4OOO, and there are nineteen donations of £250 each. Tho present winter garden was built from surplus funds from tho 1913 exhibition, and the scheme now is to duplicate the building at a distance of 260 feet, and tQ make. a pergola and terraced lily ponds between the buildnigs. The City Council has .Accepted the gift,' which carries with it the services of Messrs. Gumnier and Ford as honorary architects.
