FATAL FIRES

KEROSENE OAKSES EXPLOSION. ENTIRE FAMILY WIPED OUT. BROWN HILLS (N.J.), March 11. A laborer and five of his seven children were burned to death in their home to-day. William Stevenson poured kerosene into the kitchen range. An explosion followed, and the house went up in flames.

Using iong poles and rakes, firemen and State troopers removed the charred bodies from the embers. Those dead were: Stevenson and five Stevenson children, Ernest, 11; Shinn, 12; Alfred, 9; Mildred, 6; and Lillian, one month.

Three members of the family, Airs. Stevenson and two of the children, escaped. Clara, 20, who jumped from the second storey, broke both hips and was expected to die.

NINE PERISH IN ONE HOME. SALTSBURG (Pa.), March 11. An entire family of seven persons and another mother and one child were burned to death when fire destroyed the home of Clarence Marsh, fn Ttmncllon, six miles from here. Only one occupant of the house, Harry Montgomery, escaped with his life. He leaped from a window to save himself. The dead are: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Marsh and their five children; Mrs. Harry Montgomery and one child. The fire started about 1 a.m. and had gained >such headway when discovered that it was impossible to rescue any of the persons trapped in the burning home.
