DUNEDIN WANTS RELIEF WORKS (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Local members of Parliament have telegraphed tho acting-Prime Minister pointing out that many married men, some with large families, are out or! work and asking for relief work to be given. ARSON ALLEGED AUCKLAND, this day. The hearing of the arson charge against Joseph Henry Trask, 47, was concluded yesterday afternoon, and the accused was committed for trial. SEQUEL TO WOMAN'S DEATH CI7IMSTCHURCH, this day. As tho sequel to the death of Ivy Louisa Boon, 31, married, who was killed in a collision on January 9, dames Luderman Matthews, 35, a taxi driver, was charged with having driven recklessly and with causing the death of Mrs. Boon, who was in a milk van driven by her husband. One witness said the taxi was going over '4O miles an hour. Accused pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial, bail of £2OO and ono surety of £2OO being allowed. NEWLY-BORN CHILD'S DEATH WAIMATE, this day. The inquest oil the body of a newly born child found in the riverbed on Sunday was adjourned sine die. The medical evidence showed the child had been suffocated, probably by a bundle of cloth jarabed tightly in front of the neck. TARIFF REVISION COMMISSION AUCKLAND, this day.
Tho Tariff Revision Commission opened its sittings this morning. Evidence will be taken from manufacturers and others who are of opinion that the tariff on certain goods should be increased or reduced. It is expected to occupy two or three weeks, the proceedings being held in camera.
