BOGUS PRINCE
TURK DAZZLES NICE POLICE SPOIL HIS TRIUMPHS (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.* (Received Januarv 18, 11 a.m.) PARIS,' Jan. 17. For a month Nice has been dazzled by a handsome young man dressed jn. khaki uniform and red fez, wearing the Legion of Donor and starring in a luxurious flat as the "Prince of Kurdistan." lie claimed to be a direct descendant of Haroun El Raschid, of Arabian Nights fame and was usually surrounded by women admirers.
However, the police spoilt the "Prince's" triumphs. They visited the flat and found that the Turk, who had been deported from England, Switzerland, and the United- States and had served imprisonment in Germany. He had an elaborate sealed document authorising him to negor tiate on behalf of Kurdistan, a lisi of addresses of wealthy English and Americans from whom he doubtless intended to borrow, and also large collections of insignia of many orders.
When arrested the "Prince" had only a few shillings and was illegally wearing the decorations.
