THE PA LACK. "The Best Bad Man." featuring Tom Mix, was screened to a. capacity bouse at the Palace last night, and the audi-' ence was most enthusiastic. Tom was never seen to better advantage as a thrill maker, and of course Tony is then- lending valuable support to his master. The picture was adapted from Max Brand's novel "Senor Jingle Bells,*' the story is exceedingly entertaining. Tom has some, of the must exciting moments of his career, especially where he is called upon to swim in a raging whirlpool to rescue a maiden in distress, Tuny coming on the scene at the right moment. There are many thrills, one of the greatest, fights ever screened, and daring riding Tom has also endeavored to prove his ability in the art of knife throwing. Tn this particular sequence Tom is wanted by the sheriff. He is seated at a table in a saloon playing a guitar when the sheriff with a posse of cowboys knocks at the door. Tom does not want to be arrested and as he must still prove who the real crook is, he must put out the light and escape. That sounded easy enough, but as the sheriff was standing by the light switch how was he to do it. Taking a running leap two paces towards the door as if about to escape that way ho threw a knife, cutting the light wire and extinguishing the light. Mix then leaped out of the window and escaped. The supporting programme is also very good. EVERYBODY'S. Madge Bellamy, said by many cameramen and directors to be the most beautiful girl in pictures, has the featured feminine role, in "A "Fool and His Money," showing at Everybody's tonight. The production is by Earle C. Kenton and is an adaptation of the novel of the same title by George Barr M'cCutcheon. Scenes in " A Fool and His Money " range from an American boardinghouse to a castle in old-world Europe. This foreign atmosphere is authentic, as has been .verified by many people who watch closely the technique of pictures. The castle exterior is most imposing, while the interiors accurately portray the high ceilings and big fireplaces peculiar to European architecture of the middle ages. The castle itself is an exact replica of the old Von Elm stronghold on the Rhine, it having been reproduced from drawings and -photographs brought from the original for that purpose. The supporting pictures include a special " Our Gang " oomedfy, " The Big Show "; Pat-he Gazette; and a nature study entitled, " Skilled Insect Artisans."
