After a Moody fight Federal troops captured the town of Tepatilan, in the Jalisco district, the centre, of what the Government calls the " Catholic rebel* lion."
The dead number nearly ICO. Seventy of those dead were rebels. They laid siege to Tepatilan, but the relieving Government, forces arrived and drove thorn pff with many wounded. The Government is arming the peasants in the .States where the rebels are active.
The Catholic episcopate denies responsibility for the. outbreaks. Demaso Bazzara, a prominent Catholic leader, who was heading the revolt in the Mesquital district under a banner '• Tor God and Country," was killed in the battle.
