INFLUENZA IN FRANCE
ALL EUROPE SUFFERS

LONDON, Jan. 4. A serious wave of influenza is sweeping over Europe, and from nil countries come reports of the growing lists of victims'.
So far, the English epidemic is mild, though it is causing anxiety. Tn Franco it is most severo in the Southern and Central districts, but less violent in the Paris district. In montpollier the deaths average 20 dailj" and have been as high as 32 in the one day. It is estimated that 100,000 people are affected. Spain is suffering a milder form of the malady, though 04 deaths are reported in Madrid in one week.
There were over 1200 cases in Basle, where the schools are closed. Thero are 20,000 cases in Berlin alone, and work generally is considerably hampered, while in Contra! Bavaria the epidemic is spreading like wildfire.
