Tlje "former quarter-mile to 10-mile cycling champion of Australia, H. W. Nesbitt, who is to appear at the Ngatapa Sports Club’s meeting at New Year, arrived in Gisborne to-day, in company with W. Mackie and .T. Anderson. Nesbitt also brought with him three whippets, Tinker Toy, Midget, and Miss Argylo, which are to race "at the meeting. He will give an exhibition of motor pacing in full gear, and will attempt to break the New Zealand onemile grass, track record. Amongst other fixtures spoilt by the unseasonable, Christmas weather was the Boy Scout camp on Mr. T. Holden’s property, ltimuroa. The unsettled state of the weather rendered it inadvisable to put the hoys under canvas, but a small advance party in charged cubmaster Footo have been on the ground since Monday morning, hoping for the best .and preparing for the main party. The weather having cleared sufficiently during the night, all available scouts were going into camp this afternoon, and the remainder are parading at Holy Trinity Parish Hall at, 6.45' p.m. tomorrow. The district scoutmaster, Mr. T. I). Baker, who inspected the site this morning, reported that the ground was drying up fast and will be quite dry by this evening.
