. YESTERDAY’S PLAY (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The Dominion chess championships were continued yesterday afternoon and evening. Erskine, won his game with Jones, in spite of the evenness of the position. Fouhy v. .Severne. —Queen’s gambit declined; Fouhy has exchanged a knight for a bishop in a ciose game. Fairburn v. Fenwick. —Queen’s pawn game; Fenwick has an isolated queen’s pawn; otherwise the position is very' even. Dunlop v. Jones.—Vienna opening: Dunlop won a pawn early, and has a strong attack. Pleasants v. Erskine.—Sicilian defence : A steady game with only knights exchanged so far. Kelling v. Moir.— Alecliine defence: Moir transposed a move in opening and obtained an inferior position. Burry v. Gyles.—Giuoco piano: Burry has lost a pawn, and has an isolated one in an otherwise fairly even position. Miller has a bye. *
