Coastal maize is only arriving in small quantities, and is realising 6s od on the wharf in wholesale parcels (reports the Auckland Herald). The South African shipment is giving general satisfaction. The quality is good, a small grain, very hard, and it landed in prime condition.
Seed maizo is in good demand, local of quality being so scarce that the South African just to hand has been readily picked up, even though it is getting late for planting. Prices run from 7s to 7s 6d on the wharf, with a fair advance for redressed. Most of the samples require this, as thev carry a heavy proportion of small grain.
