At 3.30 p.m. yesterday an unusual accident occurred at Thai hydro-elec-tric station, throwing out for a short time the whole of the electric system. The new pipe-lino connected with the additional, unit suddenly burst near the power house, quickly flooding the station and stopping the generation of electricity. A'o damage was done to the machinery, and the staff with commendable promptitude effected temporary repairs, and power was again available in less than an hour and a half. ft was intended to place the new unit on circuit on Sunday, but the accident may possibly delay this. At the stock sale on Thursday there was a poor yarding of stock, no cattle being listed, and not many sheep. There was a good attendance of the public and bidding was spirited throughout. Prices showed a great improvement on previous sales. The following was the range of prices:— Woolly four-tooth wethers, 25s 4d; ewes with lambs, 23s 9d; empty fat and forward ewes (woolly), 17s.

The first game of bowls of the season for the Hunter-Brown Shield resulted: Olsen, Stanton, Moore and Body (24) beat. Walker, Book, Sandilands and Fletcher (12). In an extra four-rink the result was: Fvson, Morris, Wade and Balbraith ’(24) beat Pa mini, Goodley, McLachlan and Gillespie (18).
