Air. Aitken suitably responded and thanked the ladies both for their gift and good wishes. After afternoon tea was partaken of, Mr. Aitken gave the meeting a description of mission night at the Assembly when Mr. AlcNeur, of China, and l)r. Porteous, of India, addressed the Assembly. ■ A special feature adopteu by the local organisers for the closing days of the Kia Ora ait union are the lavish window-displays in a centrallysituated shop, and the arrangement of selling-booths in a number of locations. A different series of tickets from those previously sold in Gisborne will be on sale at these booths. The district agent has received a number of enquiries as to the use of the double-butt, which is a feature of the tickets. The agent, Air. Pry, explained to-day that the duplicate butt is provided for the satisfaction of purchasers of tickets, who by forwarding them independently to the national headquarters of the art union, may doubly assure themselves that their tickets will be represented in the ballot.
