CAR OVER BANK

YOUNG MAN DIES . >^ (Per Press Association.) WAIPUKUBAU, this day. While proceeding in.a cai' to a shearing engagement in the Povangahau district last"evening Baden Powell Brdoker, of Hastings, and Erie Hart, spn of the proprietor of the Exchange Hotel, Havelock North, came to grief going down a hill near the home of Mr. Sam McNutt, a settler, falling a considerable distance over the side of a steep cutting. They were pickeTT up by Mr. J. Stewart, a Forangahau settler homeward bound, who conveyed the young men in his car to Waipnk'uraii Hospital. Their injuries wore not thought serious rfl the time. At 8.30 p.m., however, Hart expired, it- is believed as a result of a fractured rib piercing the lung. An inquest will be held this afternoon. < ,

Brooker is suffering from slight concussion. The car, of course, was badly smashed. Deceased was about 22 years of age.
