The League Goun- ( oil in December appointed an expert committee which arranged to collect information on the subject, and to assist any international economic conference. The Imperial Conference's sub-com-mittee'will report on the position reached. It also considered the Customs valuation ,of goods with a view to reconciling the Dominions' practice of levying an ad valorem doty, which is passed on to the consumption value of goods in the country of export and the British and Indian practice of levying cm the value at the place of arrival, thus facilitating inter-Imperial trade. The research committee and Imperial eomntunications committee also sat. Next week will be occupied chiefly with the work of the committees, which will report to the conference on Nev.ember 11, or possibly not till November Jo, since Mr. Baldwin is going to Glasgow.
