OBITUARY
PEOIHINENT ARCHITECT (Special to the Herald.) CHEISTCHDECH, this day. jdr. E. J. Greenstreet, who died at his residence, Dyer's Pass road, on Saturday, from an illness following on influenza, was tho architect for tho Municipal Buildings 'in Manchester street. He was born in Christchurch 66* years ago, and was trained for Ms profession in this city. He left New Zealand to practice in Australia, South Africa, Canada and America. After being away for 25 years he returned to Christchurch 11 years ago, and spent the rest of Ms days here, being senior partner in. the firm of Messrs. Greenstreet and Anderson. . In New Zealand and in other countries Mr. Greenstreet made a special study of the architecture of freezing works and cool stores, and was an expert in that branch. The police have been advised that an old man, Peter Jacobs, died at Matawai on "October 31. The deceased had been in failing health for some tune, and his death has been certified as being due to senile decay, so that no inquest will be necessary. The deceased was SO years of age and was one uf the earliest settlers in this district, Inning had many exciting experiences during the time of tho. Maori disturbances. As far as is. kf.iwii, he has no relatives in the district. At the monthly meeting of the Cook County \V(.*ien 's Guild last. Friday, it was decided to send a letter of condolence to Mrs. .lames Atkins, senr., of Patutahi, who recently lost her hnstiand. Mrs. Atnin- has always beer a loyal supporter of the work of tho niild.
