WHAREONGAONGA QUARRY
HARBOR BOARD’S VISIT EVENTUATES ON MONDAY The members of the Harbor Board will pay a visit to the quarry at Whareongaonga on Monday, weather permitting, ! in. order to acquaint themselves with the progress of the work in hand there. The visit was decided on as last meeting of the board, when certain questions affecting the quarry were being considered, the hoard, adopting Mr. (3. Smith’s suggestion that they would be better able to dismiss these matters if they knpw more of the actual position of affairs at Whareongaonga. The party will be transported to the scene of the quarrying operations aboard the scow Zingara, the vessel purchased by the board for the conveyance of stone from Whareongaonga. to the harbor site. The Zingara brought a cargo of coal from Auckland, and will receive a clean-up in preparation for the more genteel employment immediately Indore her. The board has paid one previous official visit to the quarry, the launch Takitimu being used on that occasion for the transportation of the members and others. The smaller vessel reacted to the motion of the seas, with results that leaped! swiftly to the recollection of hoard members when Mr. Smith proposed another visit. The engineer allayed' the apprehension evidently held by some with air assurance that the Zingara was eminently fitted for the fash of delivering the board members in gpod condition at the sceno of operations.
