IMPROVEMENT IN PRICES MATAWHERO STOCK SALE The chief feature of the sale of .store sheep at the M-at-awhero yards to-dav was the small entry, brisker bidding, and an improvement on most lines. There was a good attendance of the public, and up until the luncheon adjournment all the larger pens had been offered, hoggets selling lip to 225, ewes with lambs at foot 28s 3d, empty ewes to 13s 9d, and shorn wethers to 16s Id. Prices were:—46o hoggets (p) 18s 3d ; 98 ewes, empty, good' (p) 13s; 46 ewes arid 49 lambs' (p) 26s 9d’; 172 ewo hoggets (p) 18s; 45 ewes and' 45 lambs 20s lid; 103 ewes, empty, 13s 2d; 71 ewes, empty, (p) 13s 9d; 134 hoggets 225; 45 ewes and 34 lambs 23s lOd; 45, ewes and 45 lambs 28s 3d; 132 2 and 4-tli wethers (p) 16s Id; 18 owes 11s Id; 5 ewes and 3 lambs (p) 15s 6d'; 15 long-tailed hoggets (p) 14s 6d; 17 ewes (p) 14s; 32 ewes 2-th (p) 15s 9d; 9 ewes and 1 9 lambs 22s 7d; 13 2-tli hoggets 13s ,ld. FAT SHEEP. There was an entry of 96 fat sheep, the quality being average throughout. Bidding was fairly brisk, hut no prices out of the ordinary were obtained. Only three wethers were yarded, and these made 22s sd; ewes made up to 18s Id, and four hoggets were sold at 20s. Four shorn ewes were included in the offering and made 13s 9d. Prices wore:—4 hoggets 20s; 20 ewes (p)_ 18s Id; 18 ewes (p) 18s Id; 3'ewes 17s; 19 ewes (p) 16s; 25 ewes, 17s 3d; 4 ewes shorn, 13s 9d ; 3 wethers 22s sd. FAT CATTLE. The only entry in this section was one fat cow of good quality, which sold after good competition at £7 ss. PIGS. There was an entry of 48 pigs. Bidding was brisk throughout, and recentprices were fully maintained. Weaners sold up to 21s, slips to 275, and baccners of good quality were passed in at £2 10s. Three sows due to farrow soon were passed at- £2 15s and £3, but were sold subsequently at £4.
