SNAKE HUNT

EXCITEMENT ON WHARF. CALCUTTA. Oct. 6. Coolies who were clearing cargo from the steamer CreKve Hall (4218 tons) stampeded on seeing a python. Two policemen, armed with shotguns, searched for hours before they found the pvthon hiding under some cargo, and killed it. It appears that it hid itself while other snakes from the Crewe Hall were being transshipped to another steamer bound for San Francisco. The Crewe Hall took a consignment of snakes from South Africa. The python measured 14 fecit.
