TRADESMEN'S DISPUTE
LIBEL CLAIM SUCCEEDS. J UDGE'S COMMENTS. (Per Press Association.) OHRISTCHURCTI, last night, The alleged libel contained in the action, Canterbury Carpenters Union v. N.Z. Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners Association, a claim foi £2,50 damages was contained in an article, three headings of which-were: "Christchureh Conciliation Conspiracy,' "Builders Association and Union Fraternise as Brut hers," "Attempt to Betray Pel low Workers." Mr. Justice Adams found there was nc truth in the main statements in tin article written, and those responsible fo its publication had published a garbled and incorrect statement of the facts, an, with the exception of certain reluetan admissions in the witness box had per sisted in statements which under crossexamination were shown to be incorrect. Judgment was given for paint itl's for £IOO against all the defendants except Moulton, president of the defendant association, with costs according to scale. His Honor upheld the non-suit point that Moulton had nothing to" do with the publication of the libel. Moulton was allowed costs.
