MINING PRIVILEGES
PAYMENT OF RENTS OCCUPIER'S CLAIM FAILS (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Mr Justice Herdman gavei reserved decision that the plaintiff was not. entitled to receive the rents payable, to holders of joining privileges over land occupied by him. The plaintiff was Frank Cockburn Sloan, of Waitekauri, farmer, and tlie defendants His Majesty the King and the Ohinemur't County Council, the land in question being in the Hauraki district. His Honor sai'd that no .-provision existed that the rents payable in respect to mining privileges are to be paid to the owners in fe (! "simple of lands under pastoral license, and no such provision, in his opinion, could be inferred from sections 28 and 29 of the statues', or anyother enactment.
