QUEEN CARNIVAL

.CITF CAMPAIGN. GOOD PROGRESS MADE. Detailed arrangements for the campaign in aid of the city candidate for the queen carnival, to augment thoi funds of tlie Macrae public baths, were made at an enthusiastic meeting held last evening. Mesdames Allen, and Morse and Messrs McClure and Stewart were appointed a committee to make, arrangements "for a series of concerts and dances to be given at Manutuke. Mesdames Morse ami Allen offered to bold a series 'of-'tennis afternoons. Half the proceeds *f today's takings of the merry-go-round are to be donated to the city committee. It Mas reported that preparations are well in hand for the cabaret to be held in La Grand Lounge to-morrow night. It was agreed to hold a shop-day on October 23, and the stall-holders will be as follow: Cakes, Mrs. Norbevg; needlework, Mesdames His'.on and Campbell: cigarettes, Mrs. F. Tolerton: flowersj Mrs. Morse; sweets, Mrs. W. Allen: vegetables, Mrs. APbertson: jumble stall, Mrs. Bridge; bran tub, Miss H. Morse; ice-cream and soft drinks, Misses B. Robinson, M. Martin,, and Horsfall; mctit and poultry, Mr. Campbell. 'Die colors for the city queen will bo blue, and arrangements were made to have badges bought. It was decided to.hold future meetings in the Assembly Hall at 7.30 in the evenings.
