DISTRICT ASSOCIATION. FIRST ANNUAL MEETING. The first annual meeting of the Poverty Bay and 1 East Coast Lawn Tennis Association was held last evening, there being a fair attendance of delegates representing the clubs of the district. Mr. L. T. Burnard was in the chair. The chairman informed the meeting that the acceptance of their affiliation by the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association had at last come to nand, and the new association was now in .a position to achieve some progress. The election of officers for the year resulted as follows:—President, Mr. L. T. Burnard; vice-presidents, Rev. J. Pigott, Messrs. E. M. Hutchinson, E. J. Humbling, and E. M. Carpentier; committee, Messrs. H. A. Hislop, E. C. Fox, G. W. Willock, E. Dudley and E. Woodrow; hon. auditor, Mr! W. Hamilton Irvine, . No appointment was made with regard to the secretaryship, Mr. M. J. White, who had carried throng* the inaugural business of the association, intimating that pressure of private affairs would prevent his continuing in that capacity. A subcommittee was appointed to secure a suitable nomination for the post. v Mr. White was accorded 1 a hearty vote of thanks for his services in connection with the organisation and affiliation ot the new association.
A short general discussion on the scope and opportunities of the new body took place, and' delegates expressed the opinion that the sport would derive much benefit from the-'inter-club relations the association would be able to promote.
